How mobile are you? After doing some research, we've found some evidence commonly exhibited by people with limited mobility. How would you rate yourself on a tri-variable spectrum, according to this criteria:

a.) Difficulty in lifting and carrying weights

So, everybody should know that you're supposed to lift with your knees, not your back. Still, your back does do a significant amount of work when you lift and carry objects. Forget about how much weight you can carry (hard, I know, since weight really does matter. I can't think of another way to factor out strength). Think about how hard it is for you to lift a reasonably heavy weight (subjective) and rate your imaginary performance on this scale.

0 (Thinking about it gives me back spasms!)

3 (I've got it up the ground about a handspan, but this isn't working. I think my back will seize up soon. I'll have to put it down.)

5 (Okay, I'll shuffle my way over to the table and put it down there. Then, I'll pick it up in a minute or two and move it to that counter top.)

8 (Whew, that was heavy! I'll think I'll get my brother to carry the rest.)

10 (Easy peasy.)

b.) Restriction in movement (turning)

What's that? Somebody's calling your name! They're not in front of you or beside you...they must be behind you. Turn around!

0 (Ugh. This is too hard. I'll just shout back at the person and ask them to come to me.)

3 (Okay. Give me a couple seconds to turn my whole body around.)

5 (Plant feet, swivel hips. I must keep my back and neck straight!)

8 (I'll just twist my neck and upper torso to look over my shoulder.)

10 (With my cat-like ninja reflexes, I'll run, jump, and sumersault behind the mystery caller to suprise them!)

c.) Restriction in movement (moving limbs)

There's about a 1 in 6.6 billion chance that you're Daniel Browning Smith. He'd probably be an 11 on this scale. What about you?

The meeting you're already 15 minutes late for is on the 3rd floor. The elevator isn't working, and a safe and reliable teleportation system has yet to be invented. You must take the stairs.

0 (I won't be able to make it up the stairs, not in my condition.)

3 (Even if somebody helped me, I would have to make my way up very slowly and carefully. I don't think the meeting is worth the risk of me injuring myself further by trying to get up the stairs.)

5 (If somebody steadys me, I'll be up in about 7 minutes.)

8 (As long as I hold onto the railing and watch my step, I'll be fine.)

I think everybody agrees that taking care of your back is very important since so much of what we do depends on it functioning properly!

I remember about 5 years ago, my back was messed up for over a week.  My spine felt really fragile...like it would snap if I were to make any sudden movements!  I guess I slept in a REALLY strange position.

Anyway, my mobility was really hampered during that time.  I couldn't turn quickly, had to bend with my knees to pick something up, and I couldn't sleep on my side.  I had a presentation to do that involved dancing to a showtune my team choreographed, and I was as stiff as a board!

the ketchup on pizza reminds me of pizza hut in china. it used to be quite the high-end restaurant there. very fancy, while here, it's very much a fast food chain restaurant. I want to try ketchup with pizza. ketchup tastes good with almost everything, excluding rice.
