You were born too late - you were needed in Toronto when the interior staircases were designed in the brick side-by-side houses. I just left my colleague's place where I had to navigate 6 inch wide stairs on a 45 degree slope! I came down each step clinging to the wobbly guard rail with both feet firmly twisted out as far as I could turn them! Your back stairs seem like a dream!!

Oh, his neighbour's wife is wheelchair bound - she lives only on the main floor...
