Universal Milk
Challenges: The 1 gal./ 4L. milk jug is a simple container that many people use on a daily basis. This new version from Costco has some good qualities, such as a flat top for easy stacking, but there are a few challenges with it. The placement of the nozzle creates an ‘easy drip’ spout. If the jug is tilted on its side to dispense the milk it invariable drips. The jug must be lifted completely up and positioned at an appropriate angle to prevent spillage. The jug is also quite heavy when full, and weaker arms will be challenged to lift and pour. Condensation on the sides of the jug creates a slippery surface. Solutions: Creating an angle on the bottom side of the jug will provide a resting place for the jug to lean on while the milk is poured. Creating a small niche around the pour spout will allow the user to lean the spout onto the object being poured into and prevent dripping. Creating grip lines in the sides of the jug will compensate for the condensation and provide more grip. Creating a wider handle will also make the jug easier to grip, especially for those with dexterity challenges.

Alot of Thought
Your ideas make alot of sense. Would you put braille on the jug, for the blind? Also . . . do they come in different colours?

I better stick to 2 liters...
Not sure I could get that one in and out of the fridge! But if the same design principles applied to the 2 liter jug, now I could go for it!

I have so much trouble with big clunky jugs. This looks great. I'd buy one.
