From my research, the Stark
From my research, the Stark family wasn't all that connected to the murder, but provided historical context of the events surrounding it. Sylvia Stark was an avid diarist, and wrote extensively about the comings and goings around her, thus spoke quite a bit about Robinson's murder.

A Hung Jury.
[Here's my copy/paste preface for all of these notes: I found this contest especially hard to judge. Sometimes I found myself evaluating the validity of the "content" and "arguments" being presented. Other times, I was focused on assessing the team's grasp of multimedia technologies and delivery. ]
I was convinced the team believed their argument. The narrator's delivery was confident, though a bit rushed. But her vocal technique created heavy "popping" of P's and T's, which were picked up by the microphone. I could practically feel the saliva hitting my face.
Some remedies: obviously, a better microphone with a windscreen foam cover; talking "over top" of the mic (vs. directly at it); or just practicing saying P's and T's without so much gusto. :)
One frame of visuals to support the narrative? I want my money back... Maybe you guys believed a "Voice Thread" implied the visuals weren't important?

Solid narration; skimpy visuals
United Students, you've already heard it from other judges so I won't belabour the point that you only used one image (and that one image lacked impact). And you've also already heard that your sound quality was so-so. At least you obviously worked on your narration & practised it!
You were the only team that decided that Tom really WAS the killer, but with every team choosing a different guilty party, why not? My critique on your judgment was that your arguments seemed to be largely based on supposed feelings: you use a lot of terms like “they felt”, “they were fed up” "what the 'natives'/'blacks'/'whites' felt" etc. I thought your arguments were a little light on evidence. Another, minor criticism: I thought your ending was a bit fuzzy. You didn't end your presentation with clarity; it just kind of petered out.

Steve Bocsa
Where did they find this guy? Did he morph out of Planet of the Apes or something? I have been involved in the education field for a long time and have rarely come across such nasty, demeaning and insensitive comments. Did he really think the comment 'I could practically feel the saliva hitting my face' was constructive criticism? I mean, he already said that he didin't feel the audio portion was good, why not leave it at that? Hope you guys don't get discouraged by having to listen to a Neanderthal's comments. Intereseing that the female judge gave constructive criticism and the male judge became insulting. Perhaps there is some kind of psychology project here? You obviously worked hard on your presentation.
