By definition, if you want to create something extraordinary you've got to leave the majority. You've got to break free from commonly accepted ideas and practices and go out on a limb. The catch, of course, is that you risk your sanity in the process. Over the past six weeks, teams with different expertises and experiences came up with truly innovative solutions to complex challenges. This collision of technology and the ubiquitous had brilliant results but raised eyebrows in the process.

A Season Highlights montage will confirm crazy behavior and question the sanity of teams, judges, audience and even hosts. But let's take a step further back. Dare 2B Digital, Crazy or Brilliant?

It is said that 88% of people who spend more that two hours each day in front of a computer screen experience some degree of computer vision syndrome (CVS). This would include all of us and a huge percentage of the North American population. Continuous flexing of the eyes' focusing muscles creates fatigue. Glare screen filters and ergonomics help somewhat.

With the increased popularity and use of computers, cell phones, mp3 players, and game devices I forsee a pandemic. Is there a solution in advance of a blind nation?

Audience submissions have been creative, innovative and simply outstanding. The interaction they have inspired has helped to make the game a lively and interactive community. It has engaged families and prompted responses from children, adults, retirees, technies and non-techies.................(you get the picture).

The number of audience entries has been increasing each week, so we thought that in celebration, the number of prizes should increase too.

Critics of globalization argue that cultural invasion will lead to the disintegration of identity and the spirit of culture. In opposition, its cheerleaders consider the decline of cultural distinctions as a substantial sign of enhanced communications, a measure of integration of societies, and a scope toward unification of civilizations.

Louise Frechette, the UN Deputy Secretary-General, argued (while addressing UN delegates, in 1999) the phenomenon of globalization saying: “It brings up many opportunities to learn from each other, and to benefit from a wider range of choices, but it can also seem very threatening.’’ She added, “instead of widening our choices, globalization can seem to be forcing us all into the same shallow, consumerist culture giving us the same appetites but leaving us more than ever unequal in our ability to satisfy them. Many millions of people have yet to feel its benefits at all.”

I think that modern societies are multicultural in themselves, encompassing a multitude of varying ways of life and lifestyles of people. Today most people's identities, not just Western intellectuals are shaped by more than a single culture. Not only societies, but people are multicultural.

So, the answer is clear right?  The impacts of globalization on one’s culture are positive.  No, sorry, make that negative.  Wait a minute, maybe it’s both!

Martin Luther King Jr. said, “we are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny.” A standard complaint about globalization is that it leads to cultural homogeneity. As we exchange tastes, traditions, music and recipes in an ever globalized world, are we losing our identity or embracing people from different cultures and traditions? Do you think globalization affects a culture negatively or positively? How do you make remote villages in developing and underdeveloped countries part of the global village without the villagers losing their cherished cultural heritage and collective identity? How do you retain your cultural identity in the context of a global village?

What games do birds play when they float on air? An answer to this may help you with this week's challenge. Africa's Ruppell's Vulture has been known to fly an astonishing seven miles above the earth. How do we know the bird was flying that high? Because it was up so high that it smacked into a passing jet liner. What game was it playing as it floated on a high riding thermal? Chicken of course!
